Microwave Repair in Little Elm, TX

I repair over-the-range and built-in microwaves, the ones that are part of the kitchen and expensive to replace. A microwave that runs but doesn't heat is usually a magnetron, diode or capacitor. One that won't start at all is usually a door switch or a blown fuse. Both are worth a look before you buy a new one.

I also install over-the-range microwaves, including the mounting bracket, the vent, and the outlet check. A lot of the microwave photos on my job page are installs.

Sounds like this?

  • Runs but doesn't heat
  • Sparks or arcs inside
  • Won't start, dead display, or trips the breaker
  • Turntable won't turn
  • Door won't latch, or the buttons don't respond
  • Loud buzzing or humming
  • Exhaust fan or light doesn't work

What I do on the visit

  1. 01Test the door switches, fuse, magnetron, diode and capacitor safely
  2. 02Replace the failed part if the microwave is worth it, and tell you if it isn't
  3. 03Install a new over-the-range unit with the bracket, vent and cabinet fit done right
  4. 04Check the exhaust fan and filter while I'm in there

Brands I see most for this

What shows up in customers' homes. Not a claim of factory authorization.

Whirlpool and KitchenAid
Door switch and fuse failures, and magnetron replacements on over-the-range units.
Samsung
Control panel and door switch problems, and the SE error on older models.
LG
Magnetron and diode failures, and touchpad issues on over-the-range models.
GE
Door interlock switch failures and blown fuses, plus turntable motor problems.

Questions I get asked

Is it worth repairing a microwave?
For a countertop unit, usually not. For an over-the-range or built-in microwave that matches your kitchen, often yes, because replacing it means a new unit plus an install. I'll give you both numbers.
My microwave sparks inside. Is it dangerous?
Stop using it until it's looked at. Arcing is usually a damaged waveguide cover, a chipped rack support, or a failing magnetron. It's fixable but not something to keep running.
Can you install an over-the-range microwave I already bought?
Yes. Half the install fee holds your slot. I mount the bracket, hang the unit, connect the vent and make sure it clears the cabinet and the range.
